Meet Board Member Kara Ohorilko

Our dedicated board members play a pivotal role in shaping the vision and direction of our organization, finding the best way we can be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community. One of our newest board members, Kara Ohorilko, brings a wealth of expertise, passion, and a deep commitment to our mission. She has a heart for people and wants to help touch the lives of our community members in meaningful ways. We asked her to answer a few questions to get to know her better.

What's your day job?

I own Best Day Coffee in Altoona.

What is your church home?

My family worships at Lutheran Church of the Cross.

When did you join the Caring Hands board?

I joined in January 2024.

What inspired you to serve at Caring Hands?

I try to go where God leads me. I have been learning more about Caring Hands and was asked to prayerfully consider joining the board. Once I learned about Caring Hands' plans, it felt like a perfect fit for my passions. I also always want to be mindful of serving the community where I work and live, and Caring Hands is a great way to do that.

What do you hope Caring Hands accomplishes in the next six months?

I'm excited about hosting a book sale!

What do you wish people knew about Caring Hands?

Caring Hands’ facility is quite large. I think it's important for the community to understand the ample possibilities for collaboration and expansion projects that match Caring Hands' vision.

Tell us one fun fact most people don't know about you.

I'm in a puzzle league!
