Matching Gifts
Many companies will match employee donations or volunteer hours. Ask your employer if they will match your gift to Caring Hands. We are happy to complete any necessary matching gift paperwork. Contact us with any questions.

Hands on Compassion Campaign
The needs of our neighbors in southeast Polk County continue to expand. The Hands on Compassion Campaign allows us to broaden our Uplift Program to cultivate relationships with our neighbors and provide support to lift individuals and families up and out of cyclical poverty through mentoring, counseling, and the acquisition of work skills. Donate Food & Hygiene Products
Donations of nonperishable foods, personal hygiene items (diapers, feminine hygiene products, soap, toothbrushes, etc.) and fresh produce from your garden may be dropped off at Caring Hands Altoona Monday-Friday, 9 am - 5 pm and on Saturdays from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. Food items may also be placed in specially-marked barrels in Altoona at Fareway, Hy-Vee, or the Altoona Public Library. In Pleasant Hill, barrels are located at Fareway and the Pleasant Hill Library. Become a Food Pantry Friend
While we do our best to have a large variety of options for our food pantry visitors, we will occasionally run out of our most popular items. If you are willing to help us during those shortages, please text PANTRY to 515-209-3889 or click here to sign up for our food pantry shortage email. When we are almost out of these items, we will email you so that you can pick up a few items for your neighbors in need.
Organize a Food Drive
We would love to partner with your civic group, small group, class, neighborhood, or family to host a food drive for Caring Hands. You’ll find a list of our most requested items here. For more information, please contact our Director of Operations. We’ll be happy to help you promote your event.

Donate Time
Caring Hands offers many opportunities to serve your community. Over 200 volunteers pick up donations, organize inventory, evaluate collections and estates, tend the garden, and assist our food pantry visitors. If you feel called to give your time, there is a place for you!

Donate Items to Caring Hands Thrift Store
Donate your secondhand treasures and shop for antiques, décor, furniture, clothing, and home goods. All proceeds benefit Caring Hands Outreach Center. Click the link below for shop hours and a comprehensive list of items we will gratefully accept.

Pray
You can support the ministry of Caring Hands considerably by praying for our clients, staff, and volunteers. We list prayer requests in our newsletter each month.
