Your cash donations enable Caring Hands to purchase food from economical sources that are not available to the retail consumer. Mail a check to the address below or have your bank arrange to make direct deposits. You may also donate immediately though our secure website.

Hands on Compassion
The needs of our neighbors in southeast Polk County continue to expand. The Hands on Compassion Campaign allows us to broaden our Uplift Program to cultivate relationships with our neighbors and provide support to lift individuals and families up and out of cyclical poverty through mentoring, counseling, and the acquisition of work skills. Donate to & Shop Secondhand Treasures
Donate your secondhand treasures and shop for antiques, décor, furniture, clothing, and home goods. Come shop at our store. All proceeds benefit Caring Hands Outreach Center.
The shop moved to Caring Hands Center at 602 3rd St SW on March 2.
Retail Store Hours:
Mon-Fri: 12:00-6:00 pm
Sat: 9:00 am-12:00 pm
Mon-Fri 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Donations of nonperishable foods, personal items (diapers, feminine hygiene products, soap, toothbrushes, etc.) and fresh produce from your garden may be dropped off at Caring Hands Altoona Monday-Friday, 9 am - 1 pm
Food items may also be placed in specially-marked barrels at Hy-Vee and Fareway stores in Altoona and Pleasant Hill.
Caring Hands offers many opportunities to serve the community. Over 200 volunteers pick up donations, organize inventory, evaluate collections and estates, and assist clients in the Pantry and Clothes Hanger. If you feel called to give your time, there is a place for you!
