Volunteer Spotlight - Tina Johnson

Our volunteers allow Caring Hands to run smoothly and we are so grateful for their faithfulness. We’d like you to meet one of those faithful volunteers, Tina Johnson. She retired from the United States Postal Service and now spends time serving her community at Caring Hands.

What inspired you to volunteer at Caring Hands?

I wanted to do some volunteer work that I wasn’t able to do while working. I liked the idea of helping people who are food insecure. I feel blessed that I now have the time and opportunity to help others in need.

What’s your home church?

What do you typically do when you volunteer?

I serve clients, work in the warehouse, and help with food recovery. I also place orders from the Food Bank of Iowa.

What do you wish people knew about Caring Hands?

It’s not just a food pantry - other assistance is available.

Tell us one fun fact about you.

I have a Yorkiepoo named Smokey and a Malshi named Bandit. I also quilt.
