At Caring Hands, we want to provide compassionate care to our neighbors in eastern Polk County. We couldn’t do that without volunteers like Randy and Diana Drummer. Since retiring from Alliant Energy (Randy) and Cedar Rapids Bank and Trust (Diana), they have been faithfully serving our ministry with cheerful hearts.
How long have you been volunteering at Caring Hands? Since January of this year. What inspired you to serve at Caring Hands? We appreciate the fact that Caring Hands has been around for many years, stood the test of time, and is an ecumenical organization.
What do you typically do when you volunteer? When we arrive on Tuesdays, we are willing to help in whatever way is needed. Usually, Randy is part of the maintenance group and Diana helps with the clothing part of Secondhand Treasures. Tell us about a time you were blessed by your work as a volunteer at Caring Hands. We have met some exceptional people and enjoy the camaraderie with the other volunteers.
What do you wish people knew about Caring Hands?
It is a great resource for people in need. Whether it is to help put food on the table or stretch the household budget by finding nice used items at a reasonable price.
Tell us one fun fact about you.
