Caring Hands Outreach Center couldn't operate without its volunteers' incredible dedication and selflessness. These remarkable individuals lend their time, talents, and hearts to our mission. They are making a positive impact in our community daily. We want to introduce you to one of these fantastic volunteers, Brianna Oleson.
When did you begin volunteering at Caring Hands?
December of 2022
What inspired you to serve at Caring Hands?
I started volunteering at Caring Hands to be able to do something fun with my mom. We started volunteering every other Saturday, and it's now we are doing multiple days, and it's so addicting! The people are so amazing, and it's so much fun. I've been wanting to find another way to volunteer, and this mission provides food for the Altoona community and other programs. It's so rewarding and such a great team to be a part of.
What do you typically do when you volunteer?
I started in pricing, and now I have been moonlighting in clothing while they need some help. All of the jobs, they walk you through what needs to be done and are so appreciative of having you there.
Tell us about a time you were blessed by your work as a volunteer at Caring Hands.
During my time volunteering at Caring Hands, I finally decided to give up my "keys/control" to God. I knew you weren't supposed to control your own life and let him do the driving, but I guess I wasn't ready. I know God has a plan for me, and Caring Hands is part of that plan. Shortly after giving up control, wonderful things started to take place in my life. I also lost my job. So, while in pursuit of new employment, I spent my free time giving back and spending more time at Caring Hands. It's been one of the most amazing summers of my entire life, and I know I have God to thank for that, as well as all of the amazing employees and volunteers at Caring Hands. I look forward to seeing what else he has in store for me and know I am in good hands, no longer in the driver's seat.
What do you wish people knew about Caring Hands
The multiple programs they offer.
Tell us one thing most people don't know about you.
I donated my kidney a year ago to a friend of mine. If you have the chance and are able, please look into it. You can save a life!
